I have always like Ernie aka "The Big Easy". I think he is a class act on and off the golf course. Good things should happen to good people. Ernie, a former World Number 1 player is playing the best golf he has in six years and if he wins a major this year, we could arguably say he is playing his best golf ever.
He had not won a major since 2002 an in 2004 he was number two on the money list. Then according to what we are used to seeing, he dropped off the radar. In the next five years he ranked between 20th to 47th place on the money list. During this time is putting average slowly creeped up. He had taken his training regimen to another level and some popular golf magazines had predicted him to perform very well in 2008, but it didn't happen. In April of this year he switched swing coaches, because he wanted a fresh perspective. In 2009 we saw signs of the old Ernie. He was hitting the ball the best he had in years with a Driving Accuracy of 64.87% and Greens in Regulation of 66.08%, but still lagging in putting.
This year it seems to becoming all together. He is currently number one on the money list. If you review all the critical stats this year, this is the most well rounded he has been, since 2004, including his putting average. His nice to see him back.
