WEBSITE OWNERS: HELPING EACH OTHER OUT

I have noticed the last couple years, many website owners have made the same mistake. They built or purchased their website and assumed per the Field of Dreams movie, "If you build it, they will come". Then, they decide to pay to have traffic driven to their site. Either email marketing, pay per click or advertising on other sites. After spending hundreds or thousands of dollars, they seem to end with the same results: NO TRAFFIC and frustrated.

I believe owners should understand the basics of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Simply put, if your web pages are optimized, you will drive targeted traffic to your site. I recently read that 98% of websites are not optimized. If this is true, you will have the edge over most of your competition.

Understanding the importance of site maps, meta tags, keywords, internal links and inbound links is critical. These are some of the basics of Search Engine Optimization. These will help spiders crawl your site to read your web pages. Meta tags and keywords will help show the relevance of the page. The inbound links will show the popularity of your website. I over simplified this process. There is much more to learn. I am challenging those that don't understand these fundamentals of SEO, to learn about it soon. I think once you do, you will be intrigued to learn a even more. After you make changes and see that you are receiving targeted traffic organically without paying for it, you will pleasantly surprised. So remember to research:

  • Site Maps
  • Meta Tags
  • Keywords
  • Internal Links
  • Inbound Links

Overall the internet world will always be evolving. If website owners can help each other out, it will make owning a website fun and exciting. If you have any fundamental SEO questions, I will be glad to answer them.

A inbound link is a link to your website placed on another website. If you have keywords in your link reletive to the web page its linked to, its a much better link. If the website that has your link has a higher page rank, this also improves the strength of the link.

Thanks for sharing. I have found out in my experience that some owners are very private about fundamentals of a website. I guess they think you are going to steal some business.
