Arnold Schwarzenegger said in his 1984 movie Terminator, "I'll be back". That is how I felt when I got a taste of Charlottesville, Virginia. This past week I ventured out of town on a business trip. Now keep in mind, I am a guy that only likes warmth and beaches. I wear shorts and flip flops frequently. So, as I began my trip, I was not excited about driving towards colder climates and mountains.

Three hours into my trip I was deep in the mountains of Charlottesville, Virginia. The beauty and calmness of it was overwhelming. I pulled over just to admire it. Typically you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but I forgot about warmth and beaches and was enjoying the cold and mountains. I went into town for lunch and everyone I met was happy and polite. I enjoyed my lunch and then drove through town. I continued to see happy and relaxed people.

This city was ranked best placed to live in 2004 and is the home of three former presidents, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe. Jefferson famous home, Monticello is also located here. I noticed a few winery signs. I like my wine, so I will have to visit them. This city was very clean. Since, I had a schedule to keep, I had to move on to my destination, but I need to spend more time here. To borrow Arnold’s famous words, "I'll be back".
